    Hello there!

You uploaded an .ipa file to our Sauce Storage and you'd like to be able to use that app during a test. Is that correct? Currently the process to install and use this app is upload it to Sauce Storage, start an automated test telling the simulator to install that app, then take manual control of the session and perform your test.

If you don't already have a way to start an automated test, here are a few examples:

    https://github.com/phillram/saucelabs-simple-python/blob/master/JSONWireProtocol/skeletonAppiumVirtual.py

Just make sure to increase the timeout limits and then you should be able to take control of the session.

There may be some changes to this in the future, so please keep your eyes out on our communication channels!

    Phillip

    Hey Phillip,

So to install my app on an emulator (virtual device) I have to automate installing the app every single time?  Does the app stay on the emulator in a saved state for future testing?  Or do I have to install every time I want to test the app on the emulator?

    Howsa!

All of our services use the same principle of having fresh and clean starts for all of your tests. This includes the VM, simulator, and real devices. Our VMs are destroyed whereas our real devices are reset between test runs. Our real devices currently offer the functionality to have your app installed when you instantiate your test. Currently, our virtual devices will require you to install your app before each test run.
